About this card

This is one of the seven checklist cards (#9, #128, #244, #343, #432, #542 and #588), and they follow the seven series exactly: #9 lists the first series, and each of the other six, printed in the series before, lists the next one, from #128 (#133-263) to #588 (#634-720). Those six each come in two states - #128 and #588 a correction on one checklist line, #244, #343 and #542 the color of the bat on the front, and #432 the color of "Baseball" on the front.

The story on this card

Card #9 is the first-series checklist of the 1970 Topps set, listing #1-132. The series also carried the League Leaders subset at #61-72 and included Vida Blue and Gene Tenace sharing #21. Six of the set's seven checklists come in two printings. The other first-series checklist, #128, is one of them: one version lists #226 as R Perranoski and the other as R. Perranoski, with a period. The 1970 design is known for its gray borders. Later subsets ran #195-202 for the playoffs, #305-310 for the World Series and #450-469 for the All-Stars.
