About this card

This is one of the seven checklist cards (#9, #128, #244, #343, #432, #542 and #588), and they follow the seven series exactly: #9 lists the first series, and each of the other six, printed in the series before, lists the next one, from #128 (#133-263) to #588 (#634-720). Those six each come in two states - #128 and #588 a correction on one checklist line, #244, #343 and #542 the color of the bat on the front, and #432 the color of "Baseball" on the front.

The story on this card

Card #588 is the seventh checklist in the 1970 Topps set, issued in the sixth series, and it lists the final run of the set, #634-720. Topps printed it two ways. The corrected version reads "666 is Adolfo Phillips"; the other printing carries the misspelling "Adolpho," and collectors treat the two as separate entries in a master set. Card #666 is Adolfo Phillips himself. The numbers the list covers include #640 Al Kaline, #660 Johnny Bench, #700 Frank Robinson, #712 Nolan Ryan and the Seattle Pilots team card at #713. The preceding checklist, #542, covers #547-633 and also exists in two printings, separated by gray or brown bat art.
