About this card

This is one of the 24 team cards, one for each club, and every club also has a manager card of its own.

The story on this card

The 1969 Reds went 89-73 and finished third in the new National League West, four games behind the Atlanta Braves. It was the first season of divisional play and the 100th anniversary of the original Cincinnati Red Stockings. Dave Bristol managed a club that led the major leagues with 798 runs scored, with Johnny Bench and Tony Perez on the roster. Crosley Field was in its final full season, and the team moved into its new facility in the middle of 1970. Cincinnati sat in the West even though it lay east of the two westernmost clubs in the NL East, a result of the Mets wanting to share a division with the Cardinals. Card #544 is the Reds team card in the fifth series of the 1970 Topps set.
