The story on this card
Pittsburgh finished third in the new National League East in 1969, 12 games behind the New York Mets, with an 88-74 record. Larry Shepard managed most of the season, and Alex Grammas was interim manager for the final five games. The Pirates scored 725 runs and allowed 652 in the last full season at Forbes Field, before the move to Three Rivers Stadium midway through 1970. It was also the last full year in the vest-style uniforms. The roster included Hall of Famers Roberto Clemente, Willie Stargell and Bill Mazeroski, along with pitcher Jim Bunning, who was traded to the Dodgers on August 15. Topps #608 is the Pirates team card, from the sixth series of the 1970 set.
