About this card
This is one of the 24 team cards, one for each club, and every club also has a manager card of its own.
The story on this card
The 1969 Washington Senators went 86-76 and finished fourth in the new American League East, one game out of third, for the first winning season in franchise history. Ted Williams, hired as manager that year, took a club that had finished last in the ten-team league in 1968 and added 21 wins; he was voted American League Manager of the Year. Dick Bosman led the league with a 2.19 ERA and went 14-5. The Senators scored 694 runs and allowed 644, and attendance at R.F.K. Stadium reached 918,106, the highest for the expansion Senators. Topps issued the team as 1970 card #676, a team card and a high number from the seventh series. Williams also has a solo manager card in the set, #211.
