The story on this card
The 1970 Dodgers went 87-74 under Walter Alston and finished second in the National League West, 14 and a half games behind the Cincinnati Reds. It was the 13th season in Los Angeles and the year Walter O'Malley stepped down as team president, handing the job to his son Peter while staying on as chairman. The road jerseys dropped the city name for the team nickname. The staff posted a 3.82 team ERA with 17 shutouts and 42 saves. Hall of Famer Don Sutton won 15 games and struck out 201. Dodger Stadium drew 1,697,142. The card is the Los Angeles team card, #402, printed in the fourth series.
