The story on this card

The 1972 Minnesota Twins finished 77-77, third in the American League West, and changed managers in early July when Frank Quilici replaced Bill Rigney after a slow start; the club went 36-34 under Rigney and 41-43 under Quilici. Rod Carew was the only Twin on the All-Star team and won his second batting title at .318 without a home run. Harmon Killebrew hit 26 home runs, fourth in the league, and drove in 75. Tony Oliva's knees limited him to 10 games. Jim Kaat went 10-2 and won his 11th Gold Glove, while Bert Blyleven went 17-17. Cesar Tovar hit for the cycle on September 19 and ended it with a game-winning home run. Metropolitan Stadium drew 797,901, seventh in the league. Card #654, the Twins team card, is a high number from the fifth series of 1973 Topps.
