The story on this card

The 1972 Giants arrived as defending National League West champions and slid to fifth at 69-86 under manager Charlie Fox. It was the club's first losing season in San Francisco and its first since 1957, the last year in New York. On May 11 the franchise traded 41-year-old Willie Mays to the Mets for minor league pitcher Charlie Williams and $50,000. The club was losing money, and owner Horace Stoneham could not guarantee Mays an income after retirement. Juan Marichal and Willie McCovey were still on the roster. The offense hit 150 home runs and scored 662 runs. The staff allowed 649 runs and posted a 3.69 ERA. Home games were at Candlestick Park, where attendance was 647,744. The team card is #434 in the fourth series of the 1973 Topps set.
