The story on this card

The 1973 California Angels finished fourth in the American League West at 79-83 under manager Bobby Winkles, playing their eighth season at Anaheim Stadium. Nolan Ryan threw the first no-hitter of his career on May 15 and struck out Oakland's Sal Bando on July 3 for his 1,000th career strikeout. Twelve days later he threw a second no-hitter, becoming the fifth pitcher in major league history to throw two in one season. He finished with 383 strikeouts, one more than Sandy Koufax's 1965 total, and reached double figures in 23 games. Hall of Famer Frank Robinson hit 30 home runs and drove in 97 runs. The club scored 629 runs and allowed 657. Topps issued the Angels team card as #114 in the 1974 set.
