The story on this card
The 1973 Cleveland Indians went 71-91 and finished sixth in the American League East under Ken Aspromonte, who has his own manager card at #521 in the same set. The club scored 680 runs and allowed 826, and 615,107 came through the gates at Cleveland Stadium. The year began with a sale: in January, Vernon Stouffer sold the franchise to Nick Mileti for $10 million, $1.4 million more than the group led by George Steinbrenner had offered in December 1971. The one Hall of Famer on the roster was pitcher Gaylord Perry, who went 19-19 and has a card of his own at #35. Cleveland's team card is #541.
