The story on this card
The 1973 Houston Astros went 82-80 under Leo Durocher and finished fourth in the National League West, 17 games behind Cincinnati. The record followed an 84-69 season in 1972, and the two years gave the club its first back-to-back winning seasons. Cesar Cedeno hit 25 home runs and stole 56 bases for a second straight 20-50 year and started the All-Star Game in center field, with Bob Watson also selected. Cedeno, Roger Metzger and Doug Rader each won a Gold Glove, the first time three Astros did. Lee May put together a 21-game hitting streak, a franchise record. The team hit 134 home runs, matching the club record it set in 1972. This team card is 1974 Topps #154.
