The story on this card

Kansas City's 1973 season was its first in a new home. Royals Stadium debuted on April 10 with a 12-1 win over Texas before 39,464 on a 39-degree night. Jack McKeon, promoted from Triple-A Omaha to replace the fired Bob Lemon, led the club to 88-74 and second place in the American League West, six games behind Oakland. Those 88 wins were the most the franchise had won to that point. Paul Splittorff went 20-11 to become the first Royal to win 20 games, and on April 27 Steve Busby threw the first no-hitter in club history, 3-0 at Detroit. Hall of Famer George Brett made his major league debut on August 2, starting at third base and singling in a 3-1 win at Chicago. The club scored 755 runs and allowed 752.
