The story on this card

The 1973 Dodgers won 95 games and still lost the National League West. They held first place from June 17 through September 2, and on July 17 led the Reds by 8 1/2 games. Cincinnati took the lead on September 4, and a five-game winning streak to close the schedule left Los Angeles 3 1/2 games back at 95-66. Walter Alston managed the club, with Don Sutton among the pitchers, and the team allowed 565 runs. On June 13 in Philadelphia, Steve Garvey, Davey Lopes, Ron Cey and Bill Russell played together as an infield for the first time, a group that stayed together for 8 1/2 years. Dodger Stadium drew 2,136,192. The Dodgers team card is #643 in the 1974 Topps set, and Alston and his coaches share manager card #144.
