The story on this card
The 1975 White Sox went 75-86 under Chuck Tanner, fifth in the American League West and 22 1/2 games behind the Oakland Athletics. Chicago scored 655 runs and allowed 703 while drawing 750,802 fans to Comiskey Park. The pitching staff carried two future Hall of Famers, Jim Kaat and Rich Gossage, whose own Topps cards are #80 and #180 in this set; Gossage also shares league-leaders card #205 with Al Hrabosky. It was the last season the club wore its Go-Go Sox-era uniforms, which the club reintroduced toward the end of the 1990 season. Card #656 is the White Sox team card, with a small inset photo of Tanner on the front and a checklist of the club's players on the back.
