The story on this card
Frank Robinson's arrival was a highlight of Cleveland's 1975. The Indians named him player-manager before the season, making him the first black manager in major league history, and the club finished 79-80, fourth in the American League East. Pitchers Gaylord Perry and Dennis Eckersley, both later Hall of Famers, were on the staff, which posted a 3.84 ERA and 33 saves; Perry was traded to Texas on June 13. The lineup hit 153 home runs and scored 688 runs against 703 allowed. Cleveland Stadium drew 977,039 for the year. Topps card #477 in the 1976 set shows an inset photo of Robinson on the front and a checklist on the back.
