Joe Frazier, named Mets manager on October 3, 1975, appears in the inset on the front of #531. The 1975 club finished 82-80 under Yogi Berra and then Roy McMillan. Berra was fired on August 6, and the club ended in a tie for third in the NL East, 10 1/2 games behind Pittsburgh. Tom Seaver went 22-9 for his third Cy Young Award. Dave Kingman, acquired from the Giants for about $100,000, hit 36 home runs, then a team record, and Rusty Staub became the first Met to drive in 100 runs, finishing with 105. Joe Torre, later a Hall of Famer, was also on the roster. Shea Stadium drew 1,730,566. Casey Stengel died on September 29, and owner Joan Payson on October 4.
