The story on this card

Gene Mauch's 1976 Twins went 85-77 and finished third in the American League West. Rod Carew hit .331 with 200 hits and 90 RBI, finishing third in the batting race, the first time in four years he did not win the title. He and catcher Butch Wynegar were the club's All-Stars. Larry Hisle and Lyman Bostock each hit for the cycle, Hisle on June 4 and Bostock on July 24, and Dan Ford hit 20 home runs. Reliever Bill Campbell won 17 games, all of them in relief, while Dave Goltz was the only starter to win in double figures. The Twins hit 81 home runs, a season-record low for the club, and drew 715,394 to Metropolitan Stadium, the lowest attendance in the American League. Topps #228 shows the team with Mauch in an inset.
