The story on this card

Baltimore won 97 games in 1977 and finished tied for second in the American League East, staying in the race until an 11-10 loss at Fenway Park on September 30. The Orioles had lost Reggie Jackson, Bobby Grich and Wayne Garland to free agency, and rookie Eddie Murray answered with 27 home runs and 88 RBI, taking American League Rookie of the Year honors. Jim Palmer won 20 games with a 2.91 ERA and 193 strikeouts, and Earl Weaver was named AP Manager of the Year. Brooks Robinson announced his retirement on August 21, and a crowd of 51,798 saluted him at Memorial Stadium on September 18. The club also lost a game by forfeit at Toronto on September 15 after Weaver pulled his team off the field. The team card is #96 in the 1978 Topps issue.
