The story on this card
Toronto played its first major-league season in 1977 under manager Roy Hartsfield and went 54-107, last in the American League East and 45 1/2 games behind the Yankees. The opener on April 7 drew 44,649 to snowy Exhibition Stadium. Bill Singer, a 20-game winner for the 1969 Dodgers, started, and Doug Ault hit two home runs in a 9-5 win over the White Sox. Ron Fairly was the lone All-Star. Roy Howell drove in nine runs in a 19-3 win at Yankee Stadium on September 10, and on September 15 Baltimore forfeited a game to Toronto 9-0 after Earl Weaver pulled his club off the field. Attendance reached 1,701,052, an expansion-team record. The Blue Jays team card is #626 in the 1978 Topps set.
