About Dell Curry

The Hornets made Dell Curry the first pick of the 1988 expansion draft, and card #14 in 1988-89 Fleer — his rookie card — catches the sweet-shooting guard in his first season in teal. A consensus All-American and Metro Conference Player of the Year at Virginia Tech, Curry went 15th overall to Utah in the 1986 NBA Draft, then spent a year each with the Jazz and Cavaliers before Charlotte called. He stayed ten seasons, winning 1993-94 NBA Sixth Man of the Year as the league's premier bench gunner and leaving in 1998 as the franchise's all-time leader in points (9,839) and three-pointers made (929). Over 16 seasons through 2002 — Milwaukee and Toronto closed the run — he totaled 12,670 points while shooting 40.2 percent from deep. Charlotte retired his No. 30, and the stroke lives on through sons Stephen and Seth Curry.
