About Bob Hall
Robert Prill Hall, born December 20, 1878, in Baltimore, was a right-handed utility man who could fill in almost anywhere — he logged big-league games at all three outfield spots and every infield position. He reached the majors with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1904, then split 1905 among three clubs: he appeared in just one game for John McGraw's New York Giants before being loaned to the Brooklyn Superbas, where he finished the season. In 103 career major-league games he batted only .203 (75 hits in 369 at-bats) with 2 home runs, 32 RBIs and 13 stolen bases, his final big-league game coming October 7, 1905. The Giants then sold him to the Baltimore Orioles of the high-minors Eastern League, the club pictured on his T206 card, where he spent several seasons of A-level ball back in his hometown. Hall is one of the T206 set's many obscure, common minor-league subjects rather than a star or scarcity. He died December 1, 1950, in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
