The 1909–1911 T206 Ed Reagan is part of the legendary “White Border” tobacco set — The Monster. This card depicts Ed Reagan, a member of the historic New Orleans Pelicans (Southern Association), and was printed in the Southern Leaguer series, known with 3 tobacco-brand backs. Across PSA and SGC, roughly 545 examples have been graded, with only 11 in NM 7 or better — a reminder of how tough this issue is in high grade.

About Ed Reagan

Ed Reagan (Edward L. Reagan, born May 6, 1885) was a journeyman minor-league infielder of the Deadball Era who never reached the major leagues, making him one of the many obscure "Southern Leaguer" subjects in the T206 set. In 1910 he split the season between the Savannah Indians of the Class-C South Atlantic League and the New Orleans Pelicans of the Class-A Southern Association, lasting only about ten games with New Orleans — the highest level he ever attained, and the affiliation shown on his T206 card. A shortstop and second baseman, Reagan was a light hitter who compiled a career batting average around .227 before retiring as a player after the 1914 season. He spent his final playing years as player-manager of the Cordele Ramblers in the Georgia State League (1913-14), then continued managing, batting .176 in 24 games for the 1915 Charleston Sea Gulls of the South Atlantic League at age 30 before taking over as the Griffin club's player-manager in 1916. Like nearly all T206 Southern Leaguers, Reagan's card is a regional, lower-print subject prized far more by collectors than his modest playing record would suggest.
