About George Davis

Born 1870 in Cohoes, NY (d. 1940), George Davis was a switch-hitting shortstop who debuted in 1890 and played 20 major-league seasons. He batted .295 with 2,660 hits, 73 home runs, and 616 stolen bases in 2,368 games. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1998. A switch-hitter long overlooked by history, he was finally elected to the Hall of Fame in 1998, more than 90 years after his career ended.
