About Rube Marquard
Born 1886 in Cleveland, OH (d. 1980), Rube Marquard was a left-handed pitcher who debuted in 1908 and played 18 major-league seasons. He went 201-177 with a 3.08 ERA and 1,593 strikeouts across 536 appearances. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1971. He opened the 1912 season by winning 19 consecutive decisions, a modern-era record that tied Tim Keefe's 1888 mark for most straight wins.
