1958 Topps #304 Tigers' Big Bats - Harvey Kuenn / Al Kaline
One of the nine multi-player combination cards in the 1958 set — the format Topps had introduced a year earlier with the 1957 Dodgers' Sluggers and Yankees' Power Hitters.

About this card
This 'combination' card pairs the Detroit Tigers' two best hitters: shortstop Harvey Kuenn and right fielder Al Kaline. Kuenn was the 1953 American League Rookie of the Year, a line-drive hitter who led the AL in hits four times and would win the 1959 batting title at .353. Kaline was even more precocious - in 1955, at age 20, he hit .340 to become the youngest batting champion in American League history. Together they gave Detroit one of the league's most dangerous hitting duos in the late 1950s, routinely near the top of the leaderboards in average and hits. Kaline is a Hall of Famer, and Topps's combination cards like this one spotlighted star teammates on a single card.
