The story on this card
Card 47 is a League Leaders entry from the first series of 1961 Topps, the first Topps set to carry a League Leaders subset, and it ranks the National League's top winners of 1960. Ernie Broglio of the Cardinals and Warren Spahn of the Braves tied for the league lead at 21 wins apiece, Broglio finishing 21-9 and the 39-year-old Spahn 21-10. Vern Law of the Pirates came next at 20-9, a year that brought him the Cy Young Award, then still a single honor covering both leagues. Lew Burdette, Spahn's Milwaukee rotation mate, closed the board at 19-13. Two collectible states exist: version a has no vertical black bar, while version b shows one to the right of the 19 in Burdette's square.
Ernie Broglio - right-hander who tied for the National League lead with 21 wins for the 1960 Cardinals, then became the pitcher St. Louis traded to the Cubs for a young Lou Brock in 1964. Warren Spahn - the winningest left-handed pitcher in baseball history, a Braves ace who won 20 games in 13 different seasons, threw no-hitters at 39 and 40, and was still going 23-7 at age 42. Vern Law was Pittsburgh's ace and the first Pirate to win a Cy Young Award, going 20-9 in 1960 and winning two World Series starts on a badly sprained ankle before a shoulder injury and a 1965 comeback shaped the rest of his career. Lew Burdette was the Milwaukee Braves' battle-tested right-hander who beat the Yankees three times, with two shutouts, to win 1957 World Series MVP; a career 203-game winner and suspected spitballer who also no-hit the Phillies in 1960.

Graded population — a scarcity guide, not a price. Data as of 2026-09-04. PSA counts are straight grades only; PSA half grades (PSA 1.5 among them) and qualified slabs are not included. SGC half grades fold down (8.5→8). Where a grader registers a variation separately its population is listed under that variation. Slabs of the two cards printed #463 are joined by description, never by number alone.
