The story on this card

1966 Topps #456 is a Rookie Stars card from the set's sixth print series, pairing Brandon with fellow Red Sox rookie Joe Foy. It is a recognized rookie card and falls in the sixth series. That season he went 8-8 with a 3.31 ERA in 40 games for Boston, his best major-league year, highlighted by a two-hit complete game over the Angels in July. "Bucky" Brandon, a Texas-born right-hander who broke in with the 1966 Red Sox and pitched in the majors for seven seasons with Boston, Seattle, Minnesota and Philadelphia, later ran a pitching school in New Jersey.

Foy's rookie card is a multi-player Rookie Stars issue, Topps #456, a series-6 print; he shares it with fellow Red Sox rookie Darrell Brandon. He won the regular third-base job in spring training, batted .262 with 15 home runs, and drew the second-most walks in the American League. He hit far better in the second half, finishing with 97 runs scored while making 21 errors at third. A Bronx-born third baseman who won the International League Triple Crown of awards in 1965, then helped Boston's 1967 pennant run before injuries and weight issues shortened his career.
