The story on this card
This team card reports Boston's 1966 season at Fenway Park, a 72-90 finish for ninth place in the American League, 26 games behind champion Baltimore and ahead of only the Yankees. The club stumbled to 27-47 through June, then went 45-43 the rest of the way. Billy Herman managed until his firing on September 8, with Pete Runnels finishing the last 16 games. Left fielder Carl Yastrzemski and Herman are the two Hall of Famers from that roster. Card #604 is a high number from the seventh series of 1967 Topps. It landed in the season of the Impossible Dream, when Dick Williams, promoted from Toronto, led Boston to a 92-70 pennant before a seven-game World Series loss to St. Louis.
