About Jimmie Hall

1967 Topps #432 pictures Hall in his first full season with the California Angels after Minnesota sent him and two teammates west that December in a trade built around pitcher Dean Chance. Platooned against left-handers, he still reached double-digit home runs for a fifth straight year, hitting .249 with 16 homers and 55 RBI, though he was no longer an everyday outfielder.

Jimmie Randolph Hall was a left-handed hitting outfielder from Mount Holly, North Carolina, who spent seven years in the minor leagues before breaking through with the Minnesota Twins in 1963. That rookie season he set the American League record for home runs by a player with no prior big league experience, launching him into a two-time All-Star run built on raw power and a compact, self-taught swing. Hall played all three outfield spots for Minnesota, then moved on to the California Angels, Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, and Atlanta Braves as his power faded in the second half of the 1960s. He appeared in the 1965 World Series for the pennant-winning Twins. He is not a Hall of Famer.
