The story on this card

Andrews' first Topps card, #314, is a fourth-series Rookie Stars issue for the Red Sox shared with fellow rookie Reggie Smith and is a recognized rookie card. That year he won the everyday second base job in late April, hit .263 with 8 homers and 40 RBIs over 142 games, batted .342 in a pressure-packed September as the Red Sox chased the pennant, and was runner-up among second basemen for the Topps All-Star Rookie Team. He also played in that year's World Series against St. Louis. A steady Red Sox and White Sox second baseman of the late 1960s and early 1970s who later became a longtime chairman of the Jimmy Fund cancer charity in Boston.

Smith's rookie year for the Red Sox, who rallied from a ninth-place finish to win the 1967 pennant; he opened the season filling in at second base before settling in center field and batted .246 with 15 home runs. His 1967 Topps card, #314, is a multi-player Rookie Stars issue from the set's fourth print series, shared with fellow Red Sox rookie Mike Andrews, and is recognized as Smith's rookie card. He capped the season by slugging two home runs in the World Series against St. Louis. A switch-hitting outfielder with a cannon arm, Reggie Smith made seven All-Star teams and reached four World Series over a 17-year career with Boston, St. Louis, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
