Dave Marshall, born David Lewis Marshall, spent seven big-league seasons as an outfielder with the San Francisco Giants, New York Mets and San Diego Padres between 1967 and 1973. A left-handed hitting, right-handed throwing native of Artesia, California, he signed with the Angels as an amateur free agent in 1963 before a trade brought him to the Giants organization in 1966. After a brief 1967 cameo, Marshall won a job as a Giants outfielder in 1968, batting .264 as a rookie and earning a spot on the Topps All-Star Rookie Team outfield. He moved into a left field platoon with Jim Ray Hart and Ken Henderson in 1969. Dealt to the Mets after that season, Marshall reached a career-high six home runs in his first year in New York, including a grand slam off his former club. He closed out his playing career with the Padres in 1973. Over 490 career games he batted .246 with 16 home runs and 114 RBIs. He died June 6, 2019.
