About this card
This is one of the 24 team cards, one for each club, and every club also has a manager card of its own.
The story on this card
The 1969 Atlanta Braves won the first National League West title, finishing 93-69 under Lum Harris, three games ahead of San Francisco. The alignment was odd: the Braves and Reds sat in the West although Chicago and St. Louis were farther west than Atlanta. Hank Aaron and second baseman Felix Millan started the All-Star Game, and Millan won his first Gold Glove. The roster carried Aaron, Orlando Cepeda, Phil Niekro and Hoyt Wilhelm, all later in the Hall of Fame, and the club hit 141 home runs while playing at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium. The first National League Championship Series ended in a three-game sweep by the New York Mets, the eventual World Series winners. Topps issued this team card as #472 in the fifth series of its 1970 set.
