About this card
This is one of the 24 team cards, one for each club, opening with #1, the 1970 World Champions Baltimore Orioles. The story on this card
The 1970 Milwaukee Brewers had been the Seattle Pilots a year earlier. The club was declared bankrupt on March 31, 1970, seven days before Opening Day, which cleared the way for Bud Selig's group to move it to Milwaukee after the Braves had left for Atlanta following 1965. The team's equipment had been sitting in Provo, Utah, with the drivers awaiting word on whether to head for Seattle or Milwaukee. New manager Dave Bristol took the team to County Stadium, and it finished fourth in the American League West at 65-97, 33 games behind the Minnesota Twins. The Brewers scored 613 runs and allowed 751, and 933,690 fans came through the gates. Milwaukee had also gained the Braves from Boston only a few weeks before the 1953 season. The Brewers team card is #698, printed in the sixth series.
