About Archie Reynolds

The 1971 season gave Reynolds 15 games for California, one of them a start, and an 0-3 record with a 4.61 ERA. His 1972 Topps card, #672 from the sixth series, carries the Angels. He made five appearances for Milwaukee that year with a 7.23 ERA, two of them starts, and was at Evansville for most of the season.

Archie Reynolds was a right-handed pitcher who worked 36 major league games over five seasons, 1968 to 1972, for the Chicago Cubs, California Angels and Milwaukee Brewers, and finished 0-8 with a 5.73 ERA. Born in Glendale, California, he grew up in East Texas and graduated from John Tyler High School in Tyler, then attended Paris Junior College before the Cubs took him in the 38th round of the 1966 draft. He went 9-3 with a 2.13 ERA for Treasure Valley in the Pioneer League and posted a 13-2 record and 2.19 ERA with double A San Antonio in 1968, which earned his first call to Chicago that August. His only start against the Giants that year, on August 27, was his lone loss. He made two starts for the Cubs in 1969, in the second games of doubleheaders on June 15 and June 22. The Cubs sent him to the Angels for Juan Pizarro during 1970, and the Angels traded him to the Brewers for outfielder Curt Motton on May 26, 1972. He spent 1973 at triple A Evansville and returned to Hawaii in 1974 in the Padres system.
