The story on this card
Topps #626 closes the Awards subset, whose trophy cards debuted in the 1972 set, and it falls in the fifth series. The New York City chapter of the Baseball Writers' Association of America created the Babe Ruth Award in honor of Babe Ruth and first gave it in 1949, to Yankees pitcher Joe Page. It was given exclusively for World Series performance until 2007. The 1971 winner was Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Roberto Clemente, who batted .414 with 12 hits and 4 runs batted in as the Pirates took the World Series. Clemente's own base card in this set is #309. The card pictures the trophy itself.
