The story on this card

The Rookie of the Year Award trophy appears on Topps #625, a fifth-series card in the Awards subset. The Baseball Writers' Association of America votes on the honor, which goes to one rookie in each league. For 1971 the American League winner was Cleveland Indians first baseman Chris Chambliss, who batted .275 with 9 home runs and 48 RBI. The National League winner was Atlanta Braves catcher Earl Williams, who hit .260 with 33 home runs and 87 RBI. Chambliss has a base card in this set at #142, and Williams has one at #380. Awards and Trophy cards were new to Topps in 1972, and the card pictures the trophy with no player on the front.
