About Manny Mota
Mota stole home against St. Louis pitcher Scipio Spinks on June 13, 1972, breaking a scoreless tie in the sixth inning of a 2-1 Dodgers win. He finished the season batting .323 with 5 home runs and 48 RBI. His fifth-series 1972 Topps Dodgers card was #596.

He played twenty major league seasons and batted .304, becoming a pinch-hitting specialist with the Dodgers. He established the major league career pinch-hit record in 1979; Lenny Harris broke it in 2001. Mota coached Los Angeles from 1980 through 2013 and also worked on its Spanish-language broadcasts. His father, Andres, gave him the nickname El Chory, roughly meaning Shorty. Two sons, Andy and Jose, also reached the majors.
