About this card
This is one of the five checklist cards (#54, #264, #338, #453 and #588), one in each series, each covering its own series: 1-132, 133-264, 265-396, 397-528 and 529-660.
The story on this card
The 1973 Topps checklist #588 covers the fifth and final series, #529 through #660. Cards from that series were printed in smaller supply, and the checklist is a high number from print series 5. The range runs from Milt May at #529 to Fred Scherman at #660, and takes in team cards such as the Phillies (#536) and Red Sox (#596) and manager cards including Walt Alston's at #569. The 1973 Rookies subset (#601-#616) is in the range as well, with three-player cards for Bob Boone (#613), Dwight Evans (#614), and Mike Schmidt and Ron Cey (#615). In limited areas of the country all five series were sold at once as a test.
