The story on this card

Houston's 1975 ended at 64-97-1, the worst record in the National League and 43 1/2 games behind Cincinnati in the NL West. The 97 losses tied the club record set in 1965. Preston Gomez was dismissed with the team at 47-80, and Bill Virdon, shown in the inset on this team card, #147, took over in August after the Yankees let him go; the Astros went 17-17-1 under him. The club first wore its rainbow uniforms. Cesar Cedeno stole 50 bases and won his fourth Gold Glove, Bob Watson led the club with a .324 average and 85 RBI and made the All-Star team, and Larry Dierker won 14 games. Jose Cruz opened the year with a home run in his first Astros game, and Watson scored the 1,000,000th run in baseball history on May 4 at Candlestick Park.
