Tim Hosley was a right-handed catcher who played parts of nine seasons in the majors between 1970 and 1981 for the Detroit Tigers, Oakland Athletics and Chicago Cubs. The Tigers signed him in 1966, and he played 14 games for them over two seasons before Oakland acquired him before 1973. He belonged to the 1973 and 1974 World Series champion A's but was never on a postseason roster. The Cubs took him in the Rule 5 draft on December 2, 1974, and in 1975 he hit .255 with 6 home runs in 62 games, splitting time with Steve Swisher and George Mitterwald. The Cubs waived him a few games into 1976, and Oakland claimed him. He was released on August 27, 1981, after a final big-league stint in which he went 2-for-21. He finished with a .215 average and 12 home runs in 208 games, and played for the Fort Myers Sun Sox in 1989.
