The story on this card

Detroit's 1976 began with a December 1975 swap that sent Mickey Lolich to the Mets for Rusty Staub, and it ended 17 wins better than the 57-102 club of 1975, the AL's largest improvement. The Tigers finished fifth in the AL East at 74-87, 24 games behind the Yankees. Mark Fidrych, added to the roster by an April 5 announcement, went 19-9, led the league with a 2.34 ERA and 24 complete games, won Rookie of the Year and finished second for the Cy Young. Fidrych and the Tigers drew a season-high 51,822 to Tiger Stadium on August 17. Fidrych, Ron LeFlore and Staub started the All-Star Game for the American League; LeFlore hit .316 with 58 steals, and Staub's 96 RBI led the club. Aurelio Rodriguez's Gold Glove ended Brooks Robinson's run at 17 straight years. Ralph Houk, in his third season as Detroit's manager, shares team card #621.
