The story on this card
Philadelphia won 101 games in 1976, its first 100-win season, and took the first National League East title in franchise history, finishing nine games ahead of Pittsburgh. A lead of more than 15 games in August shrank to 3 after the offense stalled on two late road trips. Mike Schmidt hit 12 home runs in the first 15 games, including four in a single game on April 17 against the Cubs, and won the first of his 10 Gold Gloves. Steve Carlton went 20-7 with a 3.13 ERA. Jim Kaat appeared in 38 games and went 12-14. Dick Allen hit .268 with 15 home runs in 85 games. The Reds swept the NLCS 3-0, taking Game 3 at Riverfront Stadium 7-6. Topps #467 shows the division champions with manager Danny Ozark in the inset photo used on all 1977 team cards.
