1977 Topps #99 Tom Hausman

About Tom Hausman
Card #99 still lists him with Milwaukee, but Hausman spent all of 1977 at Triple-A Spokane. There he led the Pacific Coast League with 30 starts, threw a career-high 207 innings and went 13-6 for a second-place club. He declared for free agency after the season.
Tom Hausman was a 6 ft 4 in right-handed pitcher born in Mobridge, South Dakota, who grew up in California and pitched in the majors from 1975 to 1982 for the Milwaukee Brewers, New York Mets and Atlanta Braves. The Brewers drafted him in the tenth round in 1971 straight out of high school. He debuted in relief on April 26, 1975, and a recurring back injury shut him down for the last month of that season. After two seasons at Triple-A Spokane he signed with the Mets on November 21, 1977, the first free agent the franchise signed. In 1980 he went 6-5 with a 3.98 ERA over 122 innings, his most in the majors. From June 6 to July 18 he posted a 0.94 ERA. Elbow and shoulder trouble followed, and the Mets traded him to the Braves on September 10, 1982. His career record was 15-23 with a 3.80 ERA. He died on January 16, 2019.
