1978 Topps #520 Larry Hisle

About Larry Hisle
After the 1977 season Hisle became a free agent and signed with Milwaukee. Topps carried both halves of the move in 1978. Card #203 is a League Leaders RBI card shared with George Foster, with Hisle printed as a Twin, and #520 is his own card with the Brewers. In his first Milwaukee season he hit .290 with 34 home runs and 115 RBI. He finished third in American League MVP voting.
Larry Hisle was an outfielder who broke in with the Philadelphia Phillies, later played for the Minnesota Twins and Milwaukee Brewers, and made two All-Star teams over a 14-season career. Signed by the Phillies out of Portsmouth, Ohio in 1965, he reached the majors in 1968 and turned in a strong rookie season the following year before a two-year slump led to a trade away from Philadelphia. After a big year at Triple-A Albuquerque, Hisle landed with Minnesota in 1973 and led the American League in RBI in 1977. He signed with Milwaukee as a free agent in 1978 and had another big year before a torn rotator cuff limited his final seasons. After retiring in 1982, Hisle was hitting coach for the Toronto Blue Jays from 1992 through 1995, helping them to World Series titles in 1992 and 1993.

What is the 1978 Topps #520 card?
It is card #520 of the 726-card 1978 Topps Baseball set, picturing Larry Hisle of the Milwaukee Brewers.
Does #520 Larry Hisle have a variation?
PSA notes that #520 was printed both with and without stitching on the baseball, and a published sheet study reports the same. The Trading Card Database does not list it among the set's variations, so the two printings are not tracked as separate states here.

726 cards, numbered 1 through 726 with none skipped and issued as a single series, and 728 collectible states: #23 Bump Wills comes with or without a black circle, and #374 Jose Morales with or without black stitching over the red laces, so the master set counts both states of each.
