1988-89 Fleer #47 Rod Higgins

About Rod Higgins
Few players earned a rookie card the hard way like Rod Higgins. A 6'7" forward out of Fresno State, he went to the Chicago Bulls in the second round (31st overall) of the 1982 draft, then survived a nomadic stretch that made him the first pro to suit up for four NBA teams in one season — Seattle, San Antonio, New Jersey, and Chicago in 1985-86 — with a CBA championship and Playoff MVP for the Tampa Bay Thrillers sandwiched in. Golden State finally gave him a home in 1986, and he rewarded the Warriors with a career-best 15.5 points per game in 1987-88 and a .393 three-point clip the season this card hit packs. He closed out with 7,011 points across 13 seasons, then ran Charlotte's front office as GM and president of basketball operations from 2007 to 2014. Fleer #47 is his true rookie card — issued six years after his NBA debut.
