The 1909–1911 T206 Ike Rockenfeld is part of the legendary “White Border” tobacco set — The Monster. This card depicts Ike Rockenfeld, a member of the historic Montgomery Climbers (Southern Association), and was printed in the Southern Leaguer series, known with 2 tobacco-brand backs. Across PSA and SGC, roughly 627 examples have been graded, with only 8 in NM 7 or better — a reminder of how tough this issue is in high grade.

About Ike Rockenfeld

Isaac Broc "Ike" Rockenfield was a right-handed second baseman born November 3, 1876, in Omaha, Nebraska. He was overwhelmingly a career minor leaguer whose only taste of the majors came with the American League's St. Louis Browns, for whom he debuted May 5, 1905, and appeared through October 7, 1906. In that brief big-league trial he hit just .221 with no home runs and 24 runs batted in, and he never returned to the majors afterward. The bulk of his long professional career unfolded across a wide array of minor-league clubs, chiefly on the Pacific Coast and in the South, including stints with Seattle, Tacoma, Oakland, Portland, St. Paul, Little Rock, Kansas City, and the Montgomery franchise (the Senators, later the Climbers) of the Southern Association. It is his Montgomery tenure that places him among the T206 set's "Southern Leaguer" subjects, a scarcer and collector-prized subset of minor-league players featured on the 1909-11 white-border cards. Rockenfield died February 21, 1927, in San Diego, California, at age 50.
