About Roger Bresnahan
Born 1879 in Toledo, OH (d. 1944), Roger Bresnahan was a right-handed catcher who debuted in 1897 and played 17 major-league seasons. He batted .279 with 1,252 hits, 26 home runs, and 212 stolen bases in 1,446 games. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1945. An equipment innovator, he became the first catcher to regularly wear shin guards when he introduced them in 1907.
