About Roy Brashear
Roy Parks Brashear (January 3, 1874 – April 20, 1951) was a right-handed infielder from Ashtabula, Ohio, whose brief major-league career bracketed a long life in the minors. He broke into pro ball in the late 1890s and reached the majors in 1902, playing that season for the St. Louis Cardinals before finishing with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1903. A versatile fielder who saw time at first base, second base, shortstop and the outfield, he appeared in 130 big-league games, batting .268 with 124 hits, 1 home run and 44 RBIs. The bulk of his career was in the minors, where over roughly 1895 games he hit about .276 with 67 home runs for clubs including the Sioux City Cornhuskers, Minneapolis Millers, Louisville Colonels (whom he also managed) and the Kansas City Blues of the American Association—the team on his T206 card—before finishing on the West Coast with Pacific Coast League clubs such as the Los Angeles Angels, Vernon Tigers and Portland Beavers around 1914. His brother, "Kitty" Brashear, also reached the majors. In the T206 set Brashear is one of the many minor-league subjects, a common and modestly regarded card rather than one of the issue's famous rarities. No documented nickname of his own survives.
