1951 Topps Team card Philadelphia Phillies
Hall of Famers on the 1950 Philadelphia Phillies roster: Richie Ashburn and Robin Roberts.

About this card
Each of the nine Team cards comes in two versions, with "1950" before the team name in the front banner and without it; the photo and the players are the same on both. Either version fills the team's place in the set, and the master set takes both.
The story on this card
Philadelphia won the 1950 National League pennant by two games over Brooklyn, finishing 91-63 under manager Eddie Sawyer. The club scored 722 runs and allowed 624, and drew 1,217,035 fans to Shibe Park. The roster, young enough to earn the nickname Whiz Kids, included Richie Ashburn and Robin Roberts, both later Hall of Famers. The pennant was the second in franchise history. On January 10, 1950, owner Bob Carpenter had announced that the Blue Jays name, adopted in 1944, was dropped and the team would be the Phillies. The World Series ended in four straight losses to the New York Yankees.
