About Camilo Pascual
Signed out of Cuba by legendary scout Joe Cambria in the spring of 1951, right-handed pitcher Camilo Pascual made his major-league debut with the Washington Senators on April 15, 1954, and went on to a productive 18-year career (1954-1971). He spent his first seasons in Washington (1954-1960) before the franchise moved and he starred for the Minnesota Twins (1961-1966), then pitched for the expansion Senators (1967-1968), Cincinnati Reds (1969), Los Angeles Dodgers (1970), and Cleveland Indians (1971). A five-time All-Star (1959-1962 and 1964), Pascual led the American League in strikeouts three straight years (1961-1963) and posted back-to-back big seasons, going 20-11 in 1962 and 21-9 with a 2.46 ERA in 1963. He finished 174-170 with a 3.63 ERA and 2,167 strikeouts. Nicknamed "Little Potato" - a Cuban slang tag passed down from his older brother Carlos ("Potato") to mark his junior standing - Pascual was renowned for a devastating overhand curveball that Ted Williams reportedly called the most feared in the league. Never elected to Cooperstown, he was later honored in the Cuban, Latino, and Minnesota Twins halls of fame. This #98 card, like others in the set's first series, exists with both white and the scarcer gray back stock.

Every card #1-180 exists with the reverse printed on white/cream card stock OR on gray card stock. Cards #181-340 are gray-back only.
